Visual Communication

This week we had our first two Visual Communication lessons with Suzie Pugh. In this lesson we had to sit in a circle and talk about whether or not we liked art or creativity. Then we looked at a couple of famous paintings and had to discuss what we thought about them and what we thought they meant. We looked at "The Scream" by Edvard Munch and some others. At the end of the lesson, Suzie gave us each a task to do over the reading week. We each had to
find 5 objects that were important to us. I decided to take i
• A photo of my cat, Otis (Who i love)
• A photo of me and my Uni friends who are amazing!
• An Oceana wristband (Because Oceana is my second home, and i spend a lot of time there :/)
• My favourite dvd (GARFIELD!!)
• A teddy of a purple monkey holding a baby monkey which my dad gave me a few years ago.

When we took the objects in to out second lesson, we were given double sided tape which he had to stick to the floor to make a grid of squares and put out objects in the squares. We had to go around in a circle and talk about our most important object and explain why you chose that to bring in.

I really enjoyed these Visual Communication lessons, Suzie is lovely and i like thinking about and talking about the paintings she shows us.

Reading Week

During reading week i attempted to do loads of work. I made a start on most of my assignments, particularly focusing on my Problem Solving assignment. I have started making my puppets and have also started the essay to go with it. I'm using my sewing machine for the first time in about a year so it is taking me a while to make the puppets. So far i have only made 4 puppets, but i would rather take a while to make them and have them looking good than have them looking rushed and really bad.

As well as doing my Problem Solving assignment i have also started doing my visual communications and ICT assignment. I have started making some designs for my dress to do as my final piece. I want to make an evening dress that is pretty and silky smooth.
